Hi Everyone

Sorry it has been a little while since we have had a newsletter. A few things to report!!

Firstly AGM!!!  PLEASE try and make it on MONDAY 28th OCTOBER at THE LION in CAERHOWEL, Montgomery. 7.30 pm  At the least it is a good sociable night and we will have CHIPS, SANDWICHES and a QUIZ!! We will also be encouraging you all to take part and be as active a member as possible.  We certainly need some new committee members and a few posts to be filled so think about it, join us and make the club what YOU want it to be.

FESTIVAL OF THE HUNTER: this is sneaking up FAST with the event running on the 27th October . We have potentially a chance to enter a novice team for this event which will take place on the 27th October at Berriewood. This challenge involves a round of show jumps and a cross country round. The height of fences is show jumping at 85cms and xc at 90cms. We will need to provide helpers so if you would like to enter you will also need to provide a helper. PLEASE CONTACT US ASAP if you would like to do it. Anyone interested please contact Maggie on foxyflora@icloud.com or 07870177296

As you all should know, we had a show jumping team that qualified for the National Championships in Lincoln and four members went down and put on a fantastic show and were great ambassadors for the club.  Here is Gaynor’s report on her, Gill Johannsen, Jemma Gilligan and Polly Owen performance:

The team had a fantastic weekend, finishing on 16 faults which meant we were in the top third of what was a massive class. We were actually gutted at the end of the 1st round when we came away with 12 faults. Gill Johannsen was the only clear, Polly Owen had a very rare 4 faults; Jemma Gilligan had 8 faults (Nelson had his own ideas about whether he should pick up his feet) and I had a total disaster. The collecting ring was like concrete with a thin covering of grass and at 8.15am a very heavy dew; hence Jack could barely trot a corner let alone canter and jump!!! (yes i should have had stud holes; yes I should have stopped when I realised the going was so awful!!!) So we jumped as carefully as we could had 2 down and 2 time faults The 2nd round was a huge improvement. Gill breathed on the planks and had them down, Jemma had a better round but had a couple down, jack was back to his consistent self and with a bit of positive riding jumped a lovely clear; Polly and Grace jumped a brilliant foot perfect clear. We made the long trip home satisfied that we had done our best, grateful for the support we had received from all our friends in Dolfor Riding CLUB

GREAT WORK LADIES!! We are proud of you!

Congratulations to Gaynor for also winning the Dolfor trophys at Guilsfield and at Berriew. Flawless equitation and showmanship! Well done Mrs Williams : )

DRESSAGE:  We have a John Biggs clinic booked for Wednesday 23rd October. This is always a great event and a fantastic opportunity to get some expert help at an affordable price.  Anyone interested please contact Maggie on foxyflora@icloud.com or 07870177296

ANYONE interested in getting involved in Dolfor RC dressage at any level from floor support through to team membership then PLEASE come along to our ‘lets make a mark’ meeting at The Lion in Caerhowel on WEDNESDAY 20th November at 7.30 pm. We are keen to get Dolfor RC on the dressage map next year!!! Come along for a chat of how we can move forward and what we would all like to do.  Chips and sandwiches included!

We have applied for a grant to get some show jumping to help with our training!!  Will keep you informed on progress!

That’s it for now.  SEE YOU ALL ON THE 28th!!!!
