Dolfor were out in full force yesterday at the @Area20 Arena Eventing Qualifiers held at the fabulous Kelsall Hill Equestrian Centre and what a great day it was ….with the weather also glorious and a complete change to the day before!! πŸ’¦ Thank goodness!! β˜€οΈπŸ™ŒπŸΌ

The day started off on a high with @AnnaPryce doing a fabulous double clear in the 70cm class with a great time gaining themπŸ₯ˆplace to qualify for the championship! Whoop! πŸ‘πŸΌ

There were then some super rounds in the 80,90 and 100 classes with some lovely double clears…..just either over or under the optimum time to miss getting placed but also some who were just very unlucky only knocking the last pesky joker fence at the finish!! Arghh! πŸ™ˆ

The 90 team (Kerry, Sian and Hannah) were awarded 4th place and the day ended on another high just like it started with @SianCadwallader-Hinkins popping over from doing her BS class and headed in to do the Arena eventing to pull off a super double clear in the 90cm class with a quick time gaining themπŸ₯ˆplace qualifying them for the championship too! πŸ†

@JacquiMcDermott also did a beautiful round in the 100cm class to obtain 4th place! πŸ₯³πŸ‘πŸΌ Brilliant results!!! ⭐️

We were also very lucky to have our super stalwarts @KayJones & @GaynorWilliams who travelled up to be our Pole ladies for most of the day!! And thanks to @NicolaJones and @CharlottePowis for relieving them for much needed coffee breaks!! We are sooo grateful to you ALL for you volunteering yet more of your precious time!

WELL DONE ALL OF TEAM DOLFOR!! πŸ’–πŸ’–

Next week we are all heading back there again for the Area 20 Show jumping qualifiers! If you don’t want to miss out on the fun and want to come and watch or support our teams, please do come along!! 😍

AREA 20 DRESSAGE AND SHOW JUMPING SUMMER QUALIFIER

What a WET but rewarding day! After a few false starts and disappointment over the loss of an earlier date, then the Horse Trials getting called off because of the weather, it was with some effort that AREA 20 managed to put the show jumping and the dressage qualifiers on today at Llanymynech. Many thanks to DOLFORITES who turned out yesterday to help set up. It was no easy task and nearly killed me ( well ok… not death… but certainly knackered!) Gaynor Williams has done both days and worked herself to the bone! Emma Saul also helping on both days and many more! We could not compete at all without the support of the whole club helping out where they can so massive thanks to everyone. Sarah Hytch is another stalwart and many thanks go to her too. EVERYONE who helps at any event… THANK YOU!!

There was a lot of concern about the ground as we have had such extreme dry weather and now this rain was going to make it hard AND slippy. Everyone knows their horses best, and their own confidence to ride when conditions are testing so absolute 100% understanding for those who decided today was not for them.

So dressage competitiors were Susie (Dotty) , Maggie (Fraser) , Kat (Nick), Beck Burton (Frank), Kirsty Lees (Ninja) and Anna (Tiger). Everyone had good results, especially in the conditions and with a horse accident in the warm up in the first part of the day! Results in their sections that I know are SUSIE 1st (VERY WELL DONE!) Maggie 6th, Kat 3rd, Kirsty 4th but dont yet know Anna’s . Emma Saul may be able to give a fuller report in due course. Well done everyone!!

Show jumping: Rachel (Homer) and Kay (Binky) entered the 70/80 and both did fabulous clear rounds in both rings, with super speedy time to have the first and second individual places respectively. Potential Lincoln Championship places for both! Many thanks to Jane Tanner for all her training and opportunities for jumping throughout the year. Also to Janet Green and Alison Lewis for the ‘on grass’ training we have managed in the last few weeks.

Charlotte (Bumble), Anna (Tiger), Jo (Winnie) , and Laura (Paddy) all competed in the 80/90 and put in very credible performances. The ground was slippy and pushing for time was difficult. Everyone looked very professional and gave superb effort for ridng in the eye of the storm.

Sarah Yorke jumped Allegro in the 100/110cms and had a clear and the 4 faults in the second round finishing an individual 4th position. Excellent effort!

And last but by no means least, Jacqui (Legs) jumped in the 110/120 and came FIRST!!! so will also be off to Lincoln! Huge congratulations you total, professional superstars!!!!!! so so proud of you!

WHOOP WHOOP everyone!! For a little club, we put on a good show! very prouod of ALL OF YOU, including our helpers and support crew. Lovely to see Gladys Jones cheering on the sidelines.

19th June 2022

Show Jumping League

Great time was had by all at the Show Jumping League today – lots of clear rounds and beautiful weather, just what we needed.

13th February 2022

DRC Tori Clinic

We held our first DRC Tori clinic yesterday and it was a resounding success. Each rider was dealt with as an individual combination with their own set of things to focus on.

It was really interesting to sit and listen to some of the other sessions and take on board how the principles applied to a variety of horse conformations and rider issues.

Please do feel free to come along and listen at any of our clinics, even if you are not riding. On foot is also a great way to learn. It was also a great way to build on the biting clinic we ran last week and see the horses in their new ‘happy place’.

Our next clinic is on March 12th at the same venue, by kind permission of Penny and Russell. we were SO GLAD of being indoors yesterday!!

We now also have a date for April 9th.

PLEASE LET ME KNOW asap if you would like to book on to any of these clinics as places will be limited. If I already have your name, no need to reconfirm.

Cost Β£55 individual and Β£35 shared (if it is possible to find a sharer)

Area 20 Arena Eventing

Today saw DRC field a strong contingent of competitors at the Arena Eventing at Kelsall Hill. The course consisted of 7 show jumps, followed by 11 xc fences and then 1 ‘joker’ fence to finish up, an upright show jump 10cms above the course height.

The 70cms team put up a positive start. Everyone gave it their best shot and Mary Saul, Anna Pryce, Tara Severs and Joanna Newing all came away with their confidence building and their horses gained from the experience in a big setting.

In the 80cms Hannah Lake Richie Jerman and Megan Powell put up a fabulous effort and ended up with a THIRD overall. Some confident jumping and good pace over all the fences ensured they achieved such a great placing.

Gaynor was sadly unable to join in today due to injury and she was missed. get well soon GW!

Finally, we had 2 individuals in the 100cms. Helen Hawker and Sarah Yorke jumped amazing rounds over a strong course, including that Joker fence! Helen did a sterling round but Sarah was hoof perfect and ended up with a fifth place.

WELL DONE TO EVERYONE. You ALL did DRC proud!

Show Jumping League Results 2021

on the first Saturday of every month, we run our show jumping clear round league at Little Ditches. Jane devises some original (and challenging) courses that includes a wall, water tray, skinnies and planks. The session then incorporates some coaching over the fences and culminates in riders completing a clear round. Its a great confidence exercise and can be over any height appropriate to the combination. 19 of our members took part in 2021 and the results of the winners ( accumulated points over the year) are:

1st place: Kay and Binky

Equal 2nd: Meg and Archie, Tracey and Tilly , Rachel and Homer

Equal 3rd: Gaynor and Nahla, Nicola and Abi

Well done to EVERYONE who took part. The first round of 2022 will take place on Sat Feb 5th

11th December 2021
Christmas Jumping Part 2

Part two Christmas jumping took place with MORE delicious mince pies from Gaynor Williams and just THE MOST AMAZING course designed by Jane Tanner.

Turns, related distances, double, water tray, skinny, wall, fillers…it was ALL in there and having your horse on point and listening to your aids was crucial!! Armed with a shot of port, Kay & Binks and Anna and Tiger put up great performances with a clear round each. Earlier in the week Nicola and Abbi had also gained themselves a Crimbo rossette!

If you have never tried our show jumping league DO DO DO give it a go in 2022!! Such brilliant fun and so much learning to be gained. Think thats a wrap for the league for 2021. Results for 2021 to be announced at the AGM on 17th January (ZOOM)

Helen Hawker started off the day with a red rosette on her very lovely young horse, and Sally and Juliet 2nd and 3rd in the Intro A. Dolfor again took the 3 top spots in Intro C; Maggie Juliet and Jo. Prelim 13 and the red rosette was claimed by Vyrnwy’s Alice Newby while 2nd and 3rd went to Dolfor’s Nicola on Abbey and Beck, with Frank showing that its not all about jumping!

Once lunch was over and Pelim 18 was underway Dolfor continued to be on good form. Finally in both Novice classes, Dolfor again shone with Anna, Kay and Adrian taking ribbons in the Novice 27 and Kay, Sue and Beck rounding off the day in Novice 30.

An evening on zoom with AMANDA HOLLOWAY, discussing CONFIDENCE and PARTNERSHIPS

Tonight we had a really amazing evening and we will have an opportunity to have a lesson or series of lessons in late November/early December – You need to BOOK YOUR INTEREST NOW – I promise you, you wont regret it.

Here is what some who attended the zoom evening had to say:

“‘my nugget is to look at my horses ears approaching jump and see when is on the rider πŸ€£Knowing him, he asks me a question – need to listen. Loved the jumping checklist – so glad I didn’t miss tonight”

“She is so knowledgeable and has such first hand experience but puts it across in such a way I can actually understand it and relate to it (and hopefully put in to practise) Loved the process of each stage of the jump and the ears is something I’ve not really looked at….going to watch the show jumping on you tube now πŸ˜„ Also the elbow positioning reiterated what Jane was telling us in our lesson tonight! “

“Her philosophy can be applied to ALL aspects of our lives. 2 positives for every negative. Before we know it, there will be NO negatives!!!”

“Thank you for tonight – inspirational”

“Thank you so much. I put some of your advice to good use in my lesson this morning πŸ˜Š. “Ride every stride”is now my new mantra, I seriously lack focus and it really really helped πŸ€©πŸ₯°
